Summer 2026 Goals
2026-06-01
I want to hit at least 40 hours of solid studying / research a week, with a special eye towards completing the following goals:
- I want to finish Ronan Veryshanin's High Dimensional Probability and the accompanying online lecture series
- Study Hansen's Econometrics to the point that I can enroll in an intermediate PhD-level Econometrics course in the Fall.
- I want to demonstrate genuine expertise on my qualifying exams. With diligent studying, I think that it should be possible to earn a distinction in both (although I don't understand how either are graded).
I am exercising almost every evening. I want to keep this going, hitting the following goals:
- Run at least three times a week working up to a minimum of 15 miles a week, and run in a 10K race by the fall.
- Knock at least a minute off of the time it takes me to run a 5K in my neighborhood
- Go on at least one long (~30 mile) bike ride a week
- Climb at least two days a week
Finally, in my personal life I want to:
- Practice my Italian at least 3 nights a week.
- Only use the internet while at work or while travelling
- Read a book a week
- Write frequently
